Special Events
Thank you to all of the Exhibitors and to all members of the Public that attended our Job Fair on April 16th. We are pleased that the fair was again such a success!
33 local employers were on site between 9 am and noon, to discuss opportunities with their companies. They explained screening processes, skill requirements, and answering questions. Some employers accepted resumes, and arranged interviews.
As usual, Job Search Services' staff members offered free resume critiques those attending the fair. While downstairs, our Job Search Centre was available to job searchers to print resumes and search for work on the Internet.
These are the employers who attended the fair looking for employees for both current and for future opportunites.

During the Community Job Fair, Job Search Services staff members offered FREE resume critiques, assistance with Internet job searching, and advice on how to maximize your job search process. Information was also available on the workshops and referral service that Job Search Services offers.
An ASL (sign language) interpreter was available throughout the morning, to provide translation services.
Being well-prepared for a job fair, will dramatically increase your chances of gaining employment or making important contacts. A few important tips are:
- Bring along plenty of updated resumes.
- A neat, business-like appearance will help you make a good first impression.
- SMILE.
- Choose the companies that you are interested in (from the list above) and research them. Make a list of questions that you would like to ask.
- Take a pen and paper to record contact information, promising networking opportunities, and answers to questions.
- After the job fair, follow up with employers. Show that you are serious about wanting to work for their company.
The Job Fair was held in the Westphal Room in Cole Harbour Place. Cole Harbour Place is located at 51 Forest Hills Parkway, Dartmouth. Cole Harbour Place has a Metro Transit stop directly out front, for routes 62 and 68.
